Last week we announced the chance to win “A Global Cookbook” as a special Valentine’s give away. A Global Cookbook is the recipe book created with Blurb by the users of Fuelmyblog. The content is exciting with unique recipes from opposite parts of the world. If you have not won then go and buy one in our Fuelmyblog Book Store over at Blurb. The proceeds of the sales will go to Stop Hunger our chosen charity for this project. :)

We received a special parcel yesterday from Blurb – last December we compiled together a global cookbook, the content was entirely provided by the users and we ended up with 38  exciting home recipes!

The result is pretty impressive given that none of us are professional book editors – more importantly it is a tactile example of what the fuelmyblog community is about: people from all over the world with different walks of life joining together to share and give.

Talking of giving, we have 10 books to give away!

To be in with a chance to win one you must write a post about the Global Cookbook, linking to Blurb with the following link http://www.blurb.com/bookstore/detail/485233 and if possible, a link to this post so your readers can see what we are doing!  Please leave the link to your post as a comment (bonus entry to the draw if you twitter your blog post with an RT too!).  Closing date – Valentines day – Feb 14th ;)

We’ll put all entries in a hat and pull them out randomly, probably live on FuelTV (remember that!).

The Proceeds from this book will go to Stop Hunger so not only you will have a unique cookbook but you will also be helping this amazing charity.

We have had stacks of emails from people asking how they can be part of the fuelmyblog book. Finally, all is organised and we are ready to go!

We have decided to give all of our proceeds to charity, we can’t give exact figures for various reasons, the biggest reason is that we have absolutely no idea how many people will take part and how many will buy one (or two..). We do know that 15% from the cost of each book will go to the charity.

The reason behind the book is that so many of us are asked daily or weekly by our friends and family “what is a blog?”, “why do you do it?”. We thought that also, from time to time people feel they can say anything they want to bloggers by posting awful comments, maybe it is because in general, we hide behind our avatars. We thought that by showing there are humans behind avatars, it would make us more real and interesting. And this is the reason behind the images we want for the book. If you take a look below, you can see my avatar printed off and held against my face. I think this shows that although we are still hiding away, we are real people.

Alongside each picture, we want to print your blog URL and the reason you blog.

This is going to be all held on Flickr, you can view the group by clicking here. Simply sign up to flickr and add one image, please put your fuelmyblog user name as a title and add a brief description of why you blog and what your blog is about, keep it short if possible. We will keep this open for three weeks and then go to print. We need you to decide whether you want us to print with a hard cover or soft, the price will be determined by the number of pages in the book, size and cover (please look here for more information, once viewed I would really like a comment or two, I’d hate to be the one making the decision!), we will be able to offer more information when we know how many want to take part!

The books are being produced by Blurb, they will be promoting it further on their site and we’d like to thank them for being so generous and allowing us to send the money to charity ( the charity will be announced later this week).

I am sure you’ll agree this is the most exciting thing we have managed to put together on fuelmyblog and I hope you’ll all help us promote this. So, without further a do, print off your avatars and let’s get this book started! We will send an email out reminding you to do so!

And as an early warning, we are going to be down tomorrow morning for a couple of hours, friends feature will be going live!
