I decided that to avoid disappointing my avid readers that I should define my blog very clearly so that they knew what to expect.

RUBBISH, nonsense, balderdash, gibberish, claptrap, blarney, moonshine, garbage, hogwash, baloney, jive, guff, tripe, drivel, bilge, bunk, BS, piffle, poppycock, hooey, twaddle, gobbledygook, flapdoodle, bunkum, tommyrot, rubbish

I’m particularly fond of the word ‘piffle’.

How would you define your blog?

We are Fuelmyblog” is a series of interviews dedicated to our bloggers on Fuel. We are glad to discover a little bit more about the person behind the blog and to see how you feel about blogging. This week meet Melissa  of Smitten by Britain her blog is still in its infancy but Melissa is showing true signs of a dedicated blogger :) If you would like to take part in this feature too, email sylvie(at)fuelmyblog.com

What’s your name?

Melissa Richards Stoey

What’s the name of your blog?

Smitten by Britain

What’s the URL of your blog?

www.smittenbybritain.com

How old is your blog?

3 months old (just a baby!)

If you’re willing to share, how many visitors per day do you have to your blog?

I’m not sure. I don’t have a visitor counter yet but I’m looking into it.

How much time do you spend blogging every week?

2-3 hours per week thinking about and creating posts.

Is it the creative process or the editing process which takes you longest when writing a post?

The creative process takes the longest.

What inspired you to first start writing a blog?

I needed to scratch an itch. I adore Great Britain and needed a way to express it since I  had driven my

family, friends and co-workers crazy talking about it.

What do you do to get inspired to write?

I do a lot of reading online especially news sources. I also watch a lot of movies and television programs.

How do you market your blog?

I have registered my blog with several blog catalogs and listed my blog on my personal pages like Face book. I love to read and follow blogs myself so I have become part of a network of fellow bloggers who have been kind enough to include my blog in their blog rolls.

What are the blogging tools you cannot do without?

I would have a boring blog without photo resources like Photobucket and Flickr and video resources like YouTube.

Is there anything that you simply refuse to blog about?

Politics and religion.

If you went for a job interview and were told that you’d have to close your blog in order to get the job, how would you react/feel about it?

I would be sad but I would do it if necessary.

Do you talk about your blog with your relatives and friends or do you avoid mentioning it?

So far just my close family knows about it.

What is the biggest mistake you made when starting your blog?

The biggest mistake was arriving to the party late. I should have started blogging ages ago.

Any tips for aspiring bloggers?

Research other blogs for ideas then once you’ve started your blog learn how to market it.

Who are the bloggers that you look up to the most?

I admire the bloggers who have a large following.

Do you still see yourself blogging in 5 years time?

Yes- and possibly as a career path.

Everyday on Fuelmyblog one lucky blogger is picked to feature as blog of the day.

We’d like you guys to assist us with our choices, whilst we really look into the community to find a great new read, we feel that with so many new blogs joining up we may be missing some of the early joiners.  We are now in the tens of thousands of blogs on Fuelmyblog, we turn away at least a third of new blogs trying to sign up, in the main as they are spam or porn – this takes some time as you can imagine..and sometimes great blogs slip by..

If you have anyone (or even you dear reader!) you’d like to recommend as a potential blog of the day, please drop their URL down either in the comments below or simply leave their blog or username as a comment in the “fuel” votes to the fuelmyblog blog here.  We have some changes coming soon to the homepage (finally) and you’ll get front page recognition to go with the badge – which could lead to your blog getting some of the tens of thousands of hits that go through that page daily.

As ever, your comments are the fuel to keep us going, thanks :)

Up until now, the forums on Fuelmyblog have been a good place to comment but a poor place to track conversation and I am sorry we have taken so long to address this.  As of now they, like this blog, have been empowered by CoComment.

This means that not only can you track the conversation on this blog and many others, you can follow the conversation in our forums, no more flicking back and forth looking for replies.

If you don’t already have CoComment, the best place to start is to download either one of the following two extensions:-

FireFox extension

IE extension

Then, once added and your browser has restarted, simply go to CoComment, sign-up and watch as every time you add to a conversation, it magically appears in the “My Conversations” section.  And will automatically update when another person leaves a comment, and that goes for the forums too. And whilst this may look to some like a paid post, it isn’t, we simply know the guys there and love their service, by passing this on to you, we hope to increase the conversation in the forums and get them buzzing again.

So without further-a-do come jump in and lets get talking!
