Week eleven of The Friday Five – This week the topic is Hangover!

What is it?

Simply answer the five questions below, either copy and answer on your blog linking back to here (leave the link in the comments) or just answer in the comments – up to you, no pressure and no link love required from us )

Usual disclaimer – all questions are random rubbish.

As I am sure a large number of people will be either hungover or full from yesterdays festivities I thought this subject would be perfect – and we want the truth!

  1. Stay in bed all day or brisk walk in the fresh air?
  2. Big egg & bacon fry up or no food, never again!
  3. “Hair of the dog” or glass of orange juice?
  4. High pressure shower or long soak in the bath?
  5. Alka Seltzer or Herbal Remedy?

Where did you find that photograph of 70’s? Anyway, on with the mottley -

    1. Stay in bed all day or brisk walk in the fresh air? Jump out of bed, wonder where I am and use the wardrobe as a lavatory and then spend the rest of the day avoiding the TG.
    2. Big egg & bacon fry up or no food, never again! “Hair of the dog” pie with a lard gravy and pineapple.
    3. “Hair of the dog” or glass of orange juice? The fresh blood of a virgin [increasingly hard to find]
    4. High pressure shower or long soak in the bath? A wet wipe applied to easy to reach places
    5. Alka Seltzer or Herbal Remedy? Just say “no” to drugs …….. tsk

If anyone follows these tips BTW – they deserve everything they get ……

Hair of the dog is where your first drink is the same drink as your last the night before.

Or as they say in Australia:-

    1. Brisk walk in the fresh air, there’s nothing better to wake up your senses.
    2. No food, never again! Yeah Right
    3. Glass of orange juice if I can keep it down ;)
    4. High pressure shower, a soak in the bath would send me to sleep.
    5. Alka Seltzer or Herbal Remedy, hmmm, I would say Herbal Remedy, as Alka Seltzer doesn’t agree with me!

Carbonated drinks are worst in terms of hangover effects. As to strong alcohol, vodka and gin cause less suffering than whiskey and brandy. The cheapest cure is to drink lots of pure water and have a good sleep, that is a universal hangover remedy.
