Thank you Bobby for sharing your thoughts and insights on blogging with us, 2 months of blogging behind you is that all? – you were quick to pick up on tips and tricks of the trade ;)

What’s your name?

Bobby Mookini

What’s the name of your blog?

Observations of the internal mind

What’s the URL of your blog?

http://bobbywashere.wordpress.com

How old is your blog?

Around 2 months

If you’re willing to share, how many visitors per day do you have to your blog?

Average 20 a day, although it you look at my stats it’s up and down like a yoyo

How much time do you spend blogging every week?

At the minute about 7 hours as I’m still joining online communities and figuring it all out.

Is it the creative process or the editing process which take you longest when writing a post?

I guess the creative process, by nature I’m a perfectionist and I am always tweaking my blog templates, widgets and rss feeds as these are the factors which appear to drive my current traffic.

What inspired you to first start writing a blog?

I started to come across more blogs than static websites in my daily surf, Blogs appeared more interesting than websites in that they have an organic feel to them. Peoples life’s, thoughts, experiences are laid bare for the rest of us to view. I like the idea linking to communities with similar interests, different perspectives and parallel content. But the biggest draw or inspiration for me is the
ability to document my observations through a timeline onto an online archive which anyone in the world can view and comment on.

What do you do to get inspired to write?

The observations of my personal experiences of existence on this earth at this moment of time in history interpreted through my Art. Deep breath required for that one :)

How do you market your blog?

Joining communities such as Blog Catalog, Twitter, or yeah and fuelmyblog of coarse. Leaving in-depth comments on people’s blogs seems to work a treat and if you can start a debate even better.

What are the blogging tools you cannot do without?

WordPress, CSS, Twitter, RSS feeds, Communities,

Is there anything that you simply refuse to blog about?

Blogging, I would say 80% of the blogs I have come across tell you how to blog, what you should say, how you should write, how to drive traffic, how to make money. I’ m not interested just feed me substance and I will find you.

If you went for a job interview and were told that you’d have to close your blog in order to get the job, how would you react/feel about it?

Well I have been sacked 3 times when I was an employee and have been working for myself for the past 7 years. But to answer your question I would most definitely give them the middle finger before walking out. I don’t like control, unnecessary rules or dictation by anyone.

Do you talk about your blog with your relatives and friends or do you avoid mentioning it?

Yep, nothing to hide or be ashamed of.

What is the biggest mistake you made when starting your blog?

Using the wrong CSS template. It kept on exploding in different browsers making the content hard to read or make any sense of.

Any tips for aspiring bloggers?

Keep it simple, blog what you are passionate about, use graphics or images to support your text, keep creating and leave meaningful comments or discussions on other people’s blogs…or yeah have an opinion.

Who are the bloggers that you look up to the most?

Don’t really look up to any particular blogger at the moment, although I keep RSS feeds of artist work I like all over the world and every time they update there blog it pops up on my desktop and I visit.

Do you still see yourself blogging in 5 years time?

I hope so unless some other craze or platform arrives then I will have to adapt again and jump ships I’m afraid…Never thought I would ditch CD’s 5 years ago but there you go.
