From time to time this awful thing happens to me, ok, quite often in fact, more so right now due to a current project taking up the little brain space I have…I get bloggers-block.
You know when you log in to blogger or wordpress and think “I had better get a post up” then once you click on write new post it happens..”what shall I write about”?

Some people will simply put up a photo or two, some post a funny video, some simply walk away and don’t post.
How do you conquer that problem?
The answers in the comments will be put together in a post coming soon that will be entitled “conquering bloggers-block”. If you have any examples of posts that are a direct result of bloggers-block, please link them to your comment, i’ll link to them in the post.

On a good day I might write several posts and put them into storage and then they can be brought out in time of need. Unfortunately for you, I don’t seem to suffer from writer’s block, although I am suffering from lack of time at the moment. I also have a large store of photos that I dig through every now and again, just to challenge myself to write something on the spur of the moment. Actually, having done a lot of supply teaching, there are quite a few tricks people can use to inspire themselves but as this comment is tooooo long already, I’ll stop now …….. great photo by the way – is it the ‘Mrs’? – tee hee.
being a 70s teen.. if in doubt to add the added extra……..You Yube
Ok my secret is out .. when you see You Tube it means one of two things.
1. I have no idea what to add
2. I have limited time to think
OMG I have just looked back on my posts and seen just how many You Tubes posts there are!!
Sorry
I do not have bloggers block………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….?!Do I?!
Well,it seems I write a lot more comments than posts!I don’t have that problem because I just blog when I feel like it.I am not thinking about building trafic or trying to make money with my blogs, not now.I am just blogging when I have a thing to write about or when I have a new collage to show.I think that when I go from blog to blog,read and leave a comment I am also blogging.My collage blog has no written posts and I used to spent a lot of time answering my comments.I have another blog that has written posts.I am familiar with creative writing.To write anything it takes time and it takes discipline.It’ s work,it’s a craft.So it’s natural that words just dont pop up in the blog!We must have an idea.We can train ourselves and have some things to help, for example, I take notes of ideas in a little book.Things I see,things I ear.Later I go through it and sometimes I find a story in those notes.You can do it and store it.Then when the blocking appears you pick the book, or the file, and find some inspiration there!
I check my drafts to see if there is anything there I can finish and use. I also look at other people’s blogs for ideas or meme’s and I read a lot of news – newspapers, magazines, news sites and comment on things I find that are interesting or funny or really disturbing.
I try to post ahead when I am in a period of great blogging productivity and this has helped a lot.
Blogging daily has become a habit for me now and I find it harder not to post than I do to come up with ideas. Even on brain dead days, I find something and if I am really hurting for ideas I pull a YouTube or a song lyric to tie to my life.
Fortunately for me, I come from an “interesting” family who provide a lot of posting material. I also have a wonderful husband and children who don’t mind (much) being the subject of posts.
Mostly though, I just love to talk about myself – am important quality for a blogger/writer:)
I get “bloggers-block” quite often, but then I usually check out how my tracks are doing on the many MP3 hosting websites and if one seems to have had a sudden boost or been chosen by a radio station etc, I blog about it ASAP.
Hey Kevin,
First of all thanks to Sylvie, and you for creating such an excellent community. The love and passion that goes behind FMB is definitely visible.
I have started blogging a month back only and till now I have not faced writer’s block. But I’ll also admit that I don’t have material to blog about every single day. Thankfully I never face reader’s block (if there is any such term) so, the days when I don’t blog:
1) I read books like these days I am reading Shantaram.
2) I read grammar books so that next time when I write something, I am able to write better.
3) I read blogs and leave my comments.
4) I solve crosswords during my non blogging days, this definitely helps me increase my vocabulary.
Also I feel that if you want to overcome something, you need to push yourself. I feel that if you really challenge yourself to write, someday or other you would be able to overcome writer’s block as well.Btw I maintain my own website so, I end up writing so much everyday that the term is actually non existent for me.:)
Regards,

Mine is taking my camera out and seeing what I can see
For me it’s a combination of both ‘real world life’ demands as well as medical reasons involving how the brain perceives things.
When this happens I usually recognize it and flow with it. Eventually I’ll come out of it with something to write about.
If not then I do things like…like finding some Cherry Chap Stik at the store to make rude, crude, and unadulterated photos to send Fracas.
I mail myself to the likes of DaddyP…all that hard work and sausage rolls will pretty much unblock ANYTHING!
I go along a bit with John C’s reasoning but I just call it a severe headacke not making my brain perceive anything.
The days this happens I won’t write anything, so if you want to put a link to all these headache days there isn’t a post on my blog… be my guest Kevin
It will be extra difficult to sort this out as there are days I just don’t write because I am still looking for that diamond engagement ring DP claimed to have given me…
Are you saying that it still hasn’t arrived? …….
& there is the head in hands option if you tube fails lol
@DP
Since I do manage to locate my mailbox AND open it, and my rottweiler hasn’t mailmen-attire in his mouth, I assume my quest for your diamond ring isn’t over yet…
@Kevin
Ok, I admit: having writer’s block today so I will use my secret anti-writers-block-solution and tadaa, you will have a link to link to…
[...] Answering a question is exactly what I am doing now. I am answering Kevin’s question What do you do when you get Bloggers-Block?. [...]
@Kevin
I wrote a post with my 7 Ideas for writers block
I also added a trackback to your post here: another way to beat blogger’s block: comment on another blog with a post on your own blog + a trackback.
Do you moderate trackbacks or is something else preventing it to show up here?
It was moderated, so I now have track-back up, thanks for writing that, it may help me
Oh Kevin, does that mean you are going to buy a cat?
Blogger block usually happens to me when I am sad so I try to find a way to cheer myself up. Sometimes I just look around and strt typing about what I am seeing, from there things start flowing.
