· What’s your name?
70steen
· What’s the name of your blog?
Diary of a 70s teen
· What’s the URL of your blog?
· How old is your blog?
1 year, 2months and 9 days hee hee
· If you’re willing to share, how many visitors per day do you have to your blog? not many between 100 – 250/day
· How much time do you spend blogging every week?
OMG this could be frightening when I work it out. I presume you mean flitting around blogosphere……… probably 24 hours
· Is it the creative process or the editing process which take you longest when writing a post?
It is the creative bit as I may scan loads or surf a lot to feature on my blog. I have a heap of 70s annuals and a building collection of other 70s books picked up in 2nd hand shops
· What inspired you to first start writing a blog?
I found my teen diaries in the loft and decided to read them. I was laughing and cringing so much as I did this. Told Bill Blunt and he said ‘make a blog’ . ‘a what?’ I replied… and the rest as they say is history.
· What do you do to get inspired to write?
See above … the diaries and other material I come across
· Is there anything that you simply refuse to blog about?
I don’t do contentious stuff … politics, religion, in your face confrontation… 70s land is about fun stuff .. hey it was my teen years
· If you went for a job interview and were told that you’d have to close your blog in order to get the job, how would you react/feel about it?
I am afraid the blog would have to go. But I could still visit my friends in blogland … couldn’t I ??
· Do you talk about your blog with your relatives and friends or do you avoid mentioning it?
I talk about it to my friends and have persuaded 2 of them to start their own… the family sort of know about 70s. My elderly mother just can’t get her head around it especially when I introduced her to Olga the Travelling Bra (that was sooo difficult to explain) but she did think it was funny. As I said on FMB for the Guardian piece on line … it is like having penpals all around the world and that is how I explain it still … you correspond, you share their lives, where they live, their joys and sometimes their sorrows… and you may even meet up and have a great time with some.
· What is the biggest mistake you made when starting your blog?
I didn’t think anyone would be interested in my blog so I did rush through the 70s at a rate of knots just to get it published at first. No I am at 1979 & am nearly into the 80s (I was an 80s teen as well for a bit but I have kinda got used to being 70s) … will have to revisit the past years again
· Any tips for aspiring bloggers?
Go for it, be yourself and don’t try compete with or compare yourself with other more swishy, flashy blogs… go with the flow of what you want to write ….comment on blogs that you visit… but just be happy/enjoy what you do
· What 3 bloggers do you look up to the most?
I don’t actually ‘look up’ to any blogs as such but I admire and say ‘Wow’ about many, so if you don’t mind I would rather not single 3 out if that is ok. The sheer amount of talent in blogsphere has really amazed me. I have read stuff and seen pieces of art which have left me in complete awe of the bloggers work.

If only there had been more spiders in the loft we could have been spared – tee hee

.. the 5 years hence Q & A is missing .. I guess it was illegible as is 70s want.. (I am soo bad at typing!!)
all what I say is true … blog and be happy with what you do …but above all avoid the spiders ..
Yes DP I can hear you
Great interview 70!
thank you
Wonderful interview!
@70steen:So will you be blogging in 5 years?
@annie: Thank you Annie … have you done one of these??
@Celeste: hi Celeste… good question? I never thought I would be blogging still after 12 months so I guess I can’t rule out another 5 years hence…. however, I think I may have to change from the 70s coz I (as well as my readers) would be sooo bored of the subject matter by then….. maybe I will grow up and become 80steen after all!!!
I enjoyed reading!!
I have met 70’s so any personal questions about the size of her afro and how many inches her platforms are, I can answer.
She also has the dubious honour of being the first blogger I have met in real life and I have to admit that she is bloody nice
I love her way of explaining that blog friends are the new penpals
In short 70’s is ace
aw Claire …how lovely you are too ….. you are really the first blogger I have met too (Bill I knew before I embarked on blogging… so I reckon he doesn’t count but does in a different kinda way)
It was you I was referring to when I said you could have fun meeting up… coz it was such a delight to meet you … saying that it was before you sacrificed Evil Willy to Fat Bastard!! (anyone wondering what on earth I am on about … check out Claire’s most excellent blog story)
[C ... I told you DON'T mention the afro and platforms tsk!!!!;-) ]
Are you telling me Claire, that 70’s isn’t really a long distance lorry driver called Trevor?
[must do some more research]
@70s, Yay for me being delightful to meet, but evil willy had to go.
@Daddy P, They have done a good job if she use to be Trevor
Sorry I confused your mum! I have that effect of folks sometimes! ‘Twas a TREAT to get to hang around with you though!…& my blog-mistress is very jealous!
xoxo
PS: And I forgive you for introducing Evil Willy to Claire. He was a real pain in the you-know-what to me…but in the end, I think he got what he deserved!
DP ~ humf no I am not Trevor the lorry driver (or at least I don’t think I am ??)
Claire ~ you Re welcome
& Olga ~ yes I met you before Claire…. and we had loads of fun … hope you didn’t feel put out when I said I was referring Claire but I meant people …. you were my very first blogging bra meet xoxo
Your real name is Humf!!!?!
*blows raspberry*
70s, I think you’re one of the swishiest blogs I read, honest. You make men in that decades wear have dignity. (Still can’t believe we thought that was in at the time.)
aw John how sweet
xox
I must do another male fashion post … they are quite amusing … how do you like the knitting patterns???
Just realised I have begun to understand John?? what does it mean? do I really want to know??
Ooops! how did I miss this.:) I took time to understand ur’s and Olga’s blog (as I have told you before) but then I think somewhere I was enjoying them as well so, I kept visiting you guys every single day. After reading your diaries, now I feel why didn’t I ever write myself; they are so much fun. And I absolutely can’t forget the post where you scanned your hand written diaries. I am glad I met you 70s.:) He he and the garish yellow cardigans for DP were an absolute delight.
SB Hi & thank you
Yes I guess mine and Olga’s blog (along with a few others) take a bit of tuning into … it’s all about having fun
Lovely to have met you too SB, it never fails to amaze me how many fabby people there are around the world that I have come into contact through blogging and mainly due to FMB
I just love winding DP up with the patterns… I have a family of mustards coming soon lol
I’ve got a few plans for those knitting patterns …….
@Daddy Papersurfer: if it is anything entrepreneurial then I am having a cut *snigger*
I bet you had to look up how to spell epidural …. fancy a glass of vino? *hic*
I must confess to a wavy red line under the first spelling of it lol
wine on a week day?? Oh go on then but just the one glass!
Need a big one then …… I’ll find a Lalique tankard ……..
Gawd at last you have realised I am a classy bird
I can think of a word to describe you that rhymes with classy ………
’sassy’?
