The response to “What are your top ten blogging tips” has been good so far but there is still time for more tips! We want to hear what would be your tips for a person who would want to start blogging…any ideas?

Here are some of your tips so far:

1/Think very carefully about starting a blog – it’s a commitment.
2/Just be yourself – even if you’re horrible like me.
3/Don’t, I repeat don’t, fill up your page with too many bells and whistles. It’s a distraction and people might not have the same download speed that you enjoy.
4/Don’t be afraid to experiment – it’s a learning process – mistakes will happen.
5/Learn from other people but don’t nick their ideas – that’s just pathetic.
6/Find a community to get involved with to help build up contacts – I’m still looking – tee hee.
7/Be patient.
8/If the whole process starts getting you down, have a break [sorry folks, I’m still enjoying myself].
9/Check your post for spelling and typos! You know who you are …..
10/Encourage comments – they are by far the best feedback. The numbers on the various counters available are virtually meaningless.
11/Most of all have FUN!!!!!
12/Learn to count …….. whoops
There are loads of other tips that are coming to mind – oh well. Only some, or even none, of the above may, or may not, be applicable to your blog – so sue me.

1) Post every day. Even if you don’t have a complete post, write down your thoughts.

2) Don’t include too many advertisements. If you have advertisements make sure they are relevant to your blogs content.

3) Respond to peoples comments on your blog.

4) Don’t assume every comment sent to you which you don’t like is spam. There are a lot of people with very different opinions of their own.

5) If you are reviewing something it is not a bad idea to include either a video or picture of the subject you are reviewing at the beginning of your posts.

6) Review your affiliate products in posts and sell them at the end of the posts. Keep your reviews honest.

7) Join webrings that specialize in what you are writing about.

It is very important to have a 125 pixel by 125 pixel picture which you can use to represent your blog on different sites like Fuelmyblog, Blogcatalog, and other social networking sites.

9) Know your audience well enough to choose appropriate content and decide its rating before you start posting content. Is your blog family friendly, restricted, etc.

10) Your blog is international and can be read from people anywhere in the world. When you are writing realize that you are speaking to people from many different places.

3. Create a distinctive logo and use it in your blog and everywhere else
4. Create unique content -don’t cut and paste unless you’re a collagist like me!

6. Answer every comment you get
7. Blog about something you have passion about…and knowledge.
8. Think of blogging as sharing something not earning something

1. Ask yourself why am I doing this? (to make money? to share my life with the world? to bug folk? or just to get stuff off your chest etc), what do I want to achieve(fame, fortune, peace, laughter, friendship etc ) and just go with it then let it evolve

2.Enjoy it! … that is an order:-) never let it become a chore

3. Time on your hands? …. prepare posts ahead … you never know when you might need them

4. Never,ever feel under pressure to post

5. White type on black background is hard to read

6. Busy sites detract from the content, some I have visited I found the post too late as I had got bored navigating around and decided to leave

7. Answer your commenter’s comments….it makes your reader feel special and they may come back

8. If you have a lot to say break it up into easy read paragraphs and put in a piccie or two

9. Listen to what your readers say (obviously not if it is DP)

10. Don’t let people bully you, spam you or upset you with their comments…. the magic finger of delete is blooming wonderful.
I look at it as in everyday life there are idiots you meet & I often wish the magic finger was transferable from my blog lol

10b ….. never worry about your spelling and grammar as the Spelling Squad & Grammar Police are never too far away … and are always happy to point out stuff to you
