As the owner of this great blogging community we are all part of, I felt I had to write this post.

As an avid twitterer I have built up a nice little network of people both bloggers and journalists, and Jemima Kiss of the Guardian showed us a link to a blog post she just wrote regarding a blog that touched her..

Whilst we are generally jovial and full of the joys of spring here, sometimes, things come to our attention and we simply as bloggers need to share.

The fellow blogger writes a blog called “baldy’s blog“, he is a 26 year old from England called Adrian Sudbury. He has, since contracting Leukaemia, been trying to raise awareness about Leukaemia and bone marrow donation. Almost every post he now writes gets over 300 genuine comments, he has blogged this illness from the start stating he actually hated blogs, to getting the all clear, getting engaged, splitting up and now, the sad sad news that he only has weeks or maybe a few months to live.

I think that the blogging has actually helped Adrian as he stated on one of the more recent posts:-

“Thank you again for every single word you have all posted. I’ve had some terrible times over the last year and a half and you have no idea just what comfort they have provided.”

The support Adrian has received has been awesome and a total credit to his honesty and the fact he has attacked this illness head on and talked in detail on his blog.

A brave man that I am sure will live on forever in many hearts.

It’s difficult to come up with something to say here that doesn’t come off as the same trite comments about inspiration and realizing how lucky we truly are.

But, life is precious, and sometimes we do need to take a step back from our daily frustrations to understand just that.

Adrian is truly remarkable. I can’t say that I’d have the same courage in the same situation.

I can only reiterate what Pete has said.
It is a desperately sad story but I applaud him so loudly for his efforts to raise the awareness of this dreadful illness in order that others may benefit in the future.

Adrian’s story is one that should make us all take stock about when we moan about the little irritants that life throws at us.
I am pleased that blogging has helped him and the words of support that he has received must have cheered his heart through these darks days
