Every day I wake up to a bright sunny day. I get dressed, brush my teeth, pour myself a cup of coffee and sit down in front of my laptop. With my legs folded beneath me, I feel refreshed. My hair is wet from my shower (did I forget to mention I had a shower?) and I feel ready to start a new day. I log into my blog and start tapping away at the newest addition to the entries. Life is good. The house is quiet, no disruptions other than the occasional car driving by. I spend the morning adding pictures to entry, linking it to other blogs and sites and then watch as the comments seep in like the butter on my warm slice of toast.

Sounds perfect, doesn’t it? Too perfect to be true? It is. Not a bit of that is true (wouldn’t it be amazing if it was?!).

Actually my blogger life is quite different. Most of my entries are made while I’m at work, two minutes at a time, in between filing, answering phones and other mundane occupational hazards.

At home, when I find time to sit down and blog or answer comments, I’m either interrupted with dogly-duties (walking the dog), making dinner, dishes, cleaning or my husband saying “Agh, you’re not on the computer again are you?”. (This might sound mean, but honestly, I don’t blame him. I spend an awful lot of time on the computer. He’s a computer tech and it’s been proven I’m on it more than he is). The life of the blogger is a busy one!

Usually we blog for a reason. It’s not only because we love our entries or love to write (although, the last one is true for me on top of wanting it as a base-point for my Etsy store), we usually have a secondary motive for blogging. Which means that blogging is yet another thing that fills our free time (or not so free time for us work-slackers…I do apologize to those bosses who are reading this. It’s a disease and they haven’t found a cure. As soon as they do though, I’ll avoid it).

I was reading a blog the other day, one I found off this site, that was based around comics. The author had great drawing tips, advice and comments in regards to this field of work, but still, you knew that the basis of his blog was to promote his comic strip. And there’s nothing wrong with that! We all do it, that’s what the majority of blogs are for: promoting a base issue, company or product. Actually, a new friend, Christy Dekoning, just recommended I read an article by Dosh Dosh which was promoting this as a great idea.

I wish that life as a blogger was as romantic and relaxed as you see in the movies. Sorry, I’m a romantic and would love my blogging time to look like a scene from You’ve Got Mail.

What does your blogger time look like? Are you in the middle of a big project at work and have to stop and vent? Or are you tapping away on a bus ride home? Are your kids helping you type as you’re trying to be deep and scholarly? Us bloggers love to see into the everyday live of our peers, so give us some details!

Hi My blogger time has changed a lot over the past 12 months due to getting a 2nd PC and wireless connection which means I don’t have to arm wrestle my teen daily for a time slot.

I would get sacked if I actually worked on my blog in work but I do pop in and quickly see what a few of my bloggy mates are up to!
So generally it is any time between 18.00 – midnight I pop in and out of blogsphere.

I am studying at home today so I can pop in and blog …. clears the brain a bit!!

I’m happy to say that my life as a blogger has recently become quite romantic and relaxed!

The life of a blogger is a busy one, but 2008 has already restored my faith that good things can happen when we allow ourselves to trust our instincts and open ourselves to possibility.

Writer’s block will always be there, but regardless of our motives I think the blogiverse is what keeps many of us connected to worlds that we’d otherwise never have the opportunity to imagine.

    Great post Katelynjane!

    Thanks for the comments guys!

TNB, you’re so lucky to have a “romantic” writing life. Thanks for the compliments on the entry (:

70steen, I know how it is to have to schedule time to spend on the computer. Thank goodness I’m over that spot in life now, but I sympathize with you!
