Previously, the only feature written by fracas available here at fuelmyblog, was the Tips for Parents feature. While I certainly do believe in the tips I’ve offered, and the subject of keeping our kids safe online will always be close to my heart, I’ll admit I’ve frequently suffered a bit of a crisis regarding writing this feature.

Frankly, I wondered if anyone (save for the few kind regulars) really cared about or wanted to read such a column, and I considered giving it up altogether.

I’ve made that decision several times… and then changed my mind, feeling like a quitter. As a result, there hasn’t been a Tips for Parents for several weeks. Receiving the “it’s all good” from Kevin, to change my feature into something new, I began with earnest, only to realize there it was again. Still.

The pangs of guilt and that little voice that keeps telling me not to be a quitter just won’t go away.

And so, I realize that perhaps what I need to do, is write the new regular feature that has me so excited and hopeful, yet continue to throw in an extra Tips for Parents post every now and again.

Because fracas is not a quitter, and kids really do matter, even if it’s only one kid out there that really ever benefits from what an over 40 and been around the block with her kids mom has to say to the world.

It seems a good solution to me, and you know… being with the same mate for 24 years, having raised a 20 year old, a 17 year old and an 11 year old (though by far, not done raising them) has taught me some very important things about myself.

I have pretty good judgement, I’m a darn solid person and I know that it’s not my responsibility to make people do what I say, so long as I make sure I say what should be said when it should be said.

The rest, is up to each individual.

So look for the Tips for Parents feature that’s been sitting on my hard drive for oh… about three weeks. I’ll still give you Tips for Parents… just not every week.

Each week from now on, I’ll be sharing with you, a feature called Just Fraccing Around. Get ready to frac. It’s the new black.

Oh.. and did you like the poster? You can buy your own here.

Tips for Parents and Just Fraccing Around. It’s like Christmas is early.

This is SOOOOO unfair. She’s going to get all the votes and win AGAIN. Canadians should be banned from FMB for ethical reasons beyond reason.

[nice to hear from you again Fraccy]

    *Boo hoo and copious weeping*

Fracas, I’m really glad you made it back, and with as usual great info.

Be nice DP, or I’ll register 50 new blogs and vote for her daily on each, and you just once. :)

Frac your tips for parents is fab… carry on carrying on with it. I am facing the teen years just now and reading my diaries I suspect I am up against it….although thankfully my ‘angel’ is a good ‘un (most of the time). The world has changed a lot since the 70s but the hormones are the same. With the ‘net more weird stuff is available at the touch of a keyboard plus instant access to unsavoury people (thankfully again I have been trained, through my profession, to be able to advise sensibly to both her and her mates on the dangers lurking out there)

Parenting is, I think, about perspective and relativity and hoping neah praying that common sense prevails in them.

    (fabulous shoes btw :-) )

DP- it seems you still have more votes than I do so you should stop whining and start looking for that llama.

John – Really? 50 new blogs… just for me? Frac.

Kevin – Thanks. I checked back to the post I mentioned it in, and see that you said you were looking for any day other than Tuesday and Friday. I’ll toss in an occasional Tips for Parents on the original Saturday plan, and try get Fraccing Around up for Thursdays.

70steen – Thanks to you too. I forget that everyone isn’t all freaking passionate about stuff like me. Especially writing a blog where “nude photos” gets far more hits than “tips for keeping your kids safe online”.

Christine – I loved the poster too. I love the last line.

Sylvie – Thanks. I’m really not a quitter, just sometimes need to chill so I don’t sound bitter. I’m a “dive in” kind of person and so sometimes have to slap myself to remind myself that everyone else isn’t necessarily so and their not being as fired up as me doesn’t mean they don’t care.
